Michael Wojczuk’s latest series, 100 views of Japan, was created from 100 live sketches done while traveling.  Michael started his art career doing live sketches of Allen Ginsburg, William Burroughs, and other Beats while writing and performing his own work in Berkeley, CA, New York and later Boulder, CO.  Just as  Jack Kerouac used literary “sketches” to capture people in the moment, Michael’s immediate impressions of landscapes, architecture and people translate into paintings that are alive and electric.  His forthcoming show will be based on recent travels in Catalunya, Spain.  He lives in Boulder, CO with his wife Niko and his daughters keep threatening to move home.

*A little-known fact:  In his salad days Michael painted houses for a living and still prefers to work with the rich-hued acrylic paints he used then.
